Wolfgang Bilger and co-workers have just published a new paper, “Optical detection of pigment contents in leaves: intercomparison of several handheld devices” in Photochemical Photobiological Sciences (2026) https://doi.org/10.1007/s43630-026-00907-y. This work by Wolfgang Bilger, Gyula Czégény, Susanne Neugart, Jakub Nezval, Erhard Pfündel & Adriana Volná stems from the intercomparison studies of devices measuring epidermal transmittance at The International Association for Plant UV Research (“UV4Plants”) at Göttingen in March 2024. It is a great paper with methodological tips on how to use and self-calibrate such instruments.
